BonApp! — Privacy Summary

At TastyBytes Oy, we care about your privacy. This summary explains — simply and clearly — what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you stay in control. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

1. What Information We Collect

We only collect information needed to make BonApp! work properly and improve your experience.

Account data: Basic login identifiers from Apple or Google sign-in. We never receive or store your password.
Profile details: Nickname, age, sex, and settings you choose to provide.
Food preferences: Dietary choices, allergies, and nutritional goals.
Usage data & interactions: Recipes you view, save, or search, and interaction patterns to help us fix usability issues.
Search history: In-app recipe searches to improve suggestions and personalisation.
Device details: Phone model, operating system, and app version.
Scanned content: Images you upload to extract recipe text via OCR. These are deleted immediately after processing.
User content: Notes, saved recipes, meal plans, and other content you create.
Subscription status: Whether you have an active BonApp+ subscription, confirmed via RevenueCat. We never see your payment details.
Diagnostics & Performance: Crash logs, app performance metrics, and session diagnostics to help us fix bugs. Sensitive fields are masked automatically.

We never collect your email address, payment details, contacts, browsing history, or health and fitness data. We never sell your personal data.

2. Why We Collect This Information

To operate core app features and keep them working reliably.
To personalise recipes, meal plans, and nutrition suggestions.
To sync your data across your devices.
To extract text from recipe scans.
To understand how the app is used, fix bugs, and improve usability over time.
To keep the app secure and prevent misuse.
To comply with legal requirements.
To moderate harmful or illegal content under the EU Digital Services Act.

3. Who Can See Your Data

Your data is shared only with trusted service providers who help us operate BonApp!:

Google — infrastructure (Firebase), authentication, and OCR processing (Cloud Vision API).
RevenueCat — subscription status confirmation only.
Analytics & Experience Partners — pseudonymous session analytics and crash monitoring to improve app stability.
Authorities — if we are legally required to disclose information.
TastyBytes — internal teams strictly to maintain features and safety standards.

All third-party providers operate under data processing agreements. We do not share your data with advertisers or sell your information.

4. How We Protect Your Data

We use strong security measures — including encryption in transit and at rest, strict access controls, and automatic field masking for analytics — to keep your data safe. Scanned images are deleted immediately after text extraction and are never stored.

5. Your Privacy Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data.
Correct or update it.
Delete your data and account.
Restrict or object to its processing.
Move your data to another service (portability).
Withdraw consent at any time.
Lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman or your local supervisory authority.

6. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your data only as long as necessary to provide the service. When you delete your account, your personal data and user content are deleted within 30 days, unless the law requires us to retain minimal records for a limited period.

7. Tracking

BonApp! does not track you across third-party apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers or share data for targeted advertising.

8. Children's Privacy

BonApp! is for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
