What is BonApp!?

BonApp! is your all-in-one kitchen companion for discovering, organizing, planning, and cooking delicious, healthy meals.

It starts with a library of 60,000+ recipes you can search and filter by diet, allergies, calories, cook time, or macros. Find something inspiring, or import your own favorites in one click from Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and websites — even scan cookbooks, magazines, and handwritten notes with your phone camera. Not sure what to make? Snap a photo of the ingredients you have, and BonApp! will find matching recipes instantly.

Then, drag and drop recipes into your weekly meal plan, scale servings automatically, and generate shopping lists organized by aisle or recipe. Every dish comes with a full nutrition breakdown, and your entire collection syncs across phone and tablet. You can also share recipes directly with friends and family inside the app or via WhatsApp, email, and text.

Why choose BonApp! instead of another recipe app?

There's a full feature comparison on our Features page, but briefly, here's what we believe truly sets us apart:

A focus on You. Finding, planning, and shopping for tasty, nutritious meals takes time and energy. We focus on solving real mealtime headaches — bringing balanced mealtime ideas, organizing all your favorite recipes, and using technology to make life easier.

Shared benefits. BonApp! features a recipe library augmented by user activity, where every recipe saved or imported helps other home cooks find inspiration too.

Shaped by your voice. BonApp! evolves based on real feedback from people who use the app every day, ensuring our roadmap tracks your real-world needs.

Can I import recipes from Instagram, TikTok, or Pinterest?

Yes, absolutely. BonApp! lets you import recipes from Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook, and your favorite blogs or websites in just one click. The app automatically cleans up the clutter and formats everything into a clean, easy-to-read recipe layout.

How do I import recipes from TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.?

Before you start, make sure the social media post or video caption actually has the recipe written out in the text — our smart importer reads text, but it can't read a photo of text just yet.

  1. While looking at the post on TikTok, Instagram, or Pinterest, tap the native Share icon (usually a paper airplane or an arrow).
  2. Look through your list of apps. If you don't see BonApp! right away, scroll to the end of the app list and tap More or the three dots to reveal it.
  3. Tap the BonApp! icon. The app will open automatically, strip out the social media clutter, and format the text into a clean, beautiful recipe layout.
How does the fridge scanner work?

Just snap a photo of your fridge, and BonApp! automatically identifies your ingredients to find delicious, healthy recipes you can cook instantly with what's already on hand.

How to search recipes by diet, cuisine, or nutrition?

You can easily search our database of 60,000+ recipes using advanced filters to find exactly what you need. You can filter by:

  • Diet — pescatarian, vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, and more
  • Cuisine — Italian, Mexican, Asian, Mediterranean, etc.
  • Nutrition — calories, protein, carbs, and fat macros
  • Convenience — cook time, skill level, or specific ingredients you want to use up
How does BonApp! create nutrition information for recipes?

BonApp! analyzes the ingredient list for every recipe you import or create. By matching each ingredient to data from the USDA FoodData Central, the system sums up the nutritional values across the entire recipe to calculate total calories, macronutrients, key micronutrients, and a nutrition score.

Can I plan my meals for the week?

Yes — just add from the plan screen or the recipe item menu, or drag and drop recipes as needed. Scale serving sizes and select meal type. When you're ready, you can generate a complete, organized grocery list from your plan in just a few clicks.

How does BonApp! create shopping lists automatically?

Your shopping lists are generated automatically from your meal plan, or directly from a recipe, and scaled to your serving sizes. The list automatically groups items by aisle or recipe, and you can share the list via WhatsApp or text with anyone passing the store.

Can I move my recipes from another app or old collection?

Yes. If you're switching from another app or a personal collection, you can add recipes manually, import them from websites, or scan them from books and recipe cards — everything ends up organized in one searchable library.

Are my recipes private?

Your My Recipes collection is always private — your notes, photos, and edits are visible only to you. When you import from a publicly accessible source, like a public Instagram post or blog, the recipe may also appear in BonApp!'s shared collection for others to discover. Imports from private sources — your own photos, handwritten notes, or personal cookbook scans — stay private.

What if I want to leave BonApp!?

Your recipes belong to you. If you want to leave BonApp!, you can export all of your recipes at any time via Settings. We hope you'll join us again down the road when the time is right!
